Helping You Step Out of Your Own Way

Step Out of Your Own Way

If you have a goal in mind that will allow you to live your dream life, but it seems currently impossible to reach because of numerous reasons (unrealistic, not enough time, making you feel stuck – to name a few) then this article is for you.

Opening up a realm of possibility

And this is what NLP coaching is all about. It allows the client to realise during the coaching journey, even though it seems near to impossible at the start of it, that numerous possibilities are in fact available to achieve the desired goal.

5 pillars of success

In her book “NLP: Principles in Practice” (2010) Lisa Wake, a Master Trainer in NLP and a Neurolinguistic Psychotherapist, describes the principles of “the 5 pillars of success” which is used in NLP as a framework for setting goals. I thought it would be interesting for you if I share this with you below.

Outcome orientated: when outcomes are well-formed your focus of where you want to go will be heightened and the chances of you being distracted and off course will be significantly reduced.

See it, hear it, feel it: When you are being curious about the impact of your actions when reaching the desired results. Flexing the muscle of noticing what you can see, hear and feel as a result of the action you have taken will put you on the fast track of achieving your outcome. Because you will become increasingly aware and familiar with the specific actions you have to take in order to achieve your outcome.

Behavioural Flexibility

Being aware of the results of your actions allows you to tweak and choose how you can behave if something isn’t working for you. You therefore have the choice to be flexible with your behaviour. There are numerous ways of achieving an outcome and knowing all of this is empowering because it allows you to adapt yourself even better to any situation and reminds you that you have options!

…And action!

Even if your outcome is well formed, you must take action to get your desired result.

“You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.”

-Joe Sabah

Need I say more? Yep.

Lastly, operating from a physiology and psychology of excellence

NLP coaching gives you tools to manage your state (thoughts and feelings), allowing you to be your most resourceful self so that you can achieve your desired outcome.

“You become what you envision yourself being”

Angel Martinez, CEO of Deckers when being interviewed by Lewis Howes author of “The School of Greatness”.

Being able to manage your state and visualising yourself already achieving your goal will put you into the fast lane of realising your desired outcome.
